Skill Development in India: It is estimated that India is in need of over 500 million skilled workforce by the end of 2020. However, the current supply is only at 50 million. Key sectors where the manpower includes, IT-ITES, Telecom, Apparel, Retail, BFSI, Construction, Hospitality, Security and Automotive. As a part of the standardization process of training, certification & placement NSDM (National Skill Development Mission) is formed and guidelines have been issued under NVQF or NSQF, that is National Skill Qualification Framework. Under the NSQF, Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) have been formed for each sector. All the existing NSDC training partners and all those who wish to enter the foray are required to align their courses with NSQF. SSC shall approve curriculum and content before assessment and certification.
A total of Rs.2400 crores has been allocated to NSDC for skilling activities which is over and above allocated to various other ministries.
To enrol as a training provider you must apply separately & provide sufficient documentation. Also you need to select the sectors, courses and align the content as per NSQF/NVQF guidelines.
